Okay I've read a lot of shoujo manga and I can't believe they keep putting down guys who likes to eat sweets. I don't see anything feminine in that. So, what if the cake is all fruity, colorful, cute, and etc. Food is FOOD!!!
![]() You eat what taste good and looks appealing. Why put food as one of the items in labeling gender? I understand the other things like sewing, cooking, and having a bunch of stuffed animal toys, but eating sweets? COME ON!!! Do people in Japan really think that way? Guy that likes to eat sweets are a bit too feminine? Or this is all in the shoujo manga world? I see in japanese drama too when a guy eat cakes and stuff he gets all embarassed. Just wondering about this. |

Yeah, I didn't understand that either, every boy I know loves sweets probably even more than the girls I know do, even pink girly looking sweets. Who cares about what food looks like anyway your just gonna eat it
I hope it's only in shoujo manga because if it wasn't then that would just be really stupid |

lol! yeah, a lot of guys I know love sweets : O
Even the guy i went out with eat all the cookies that were on the table when i went to the bathroom for 5 min .... ; ; but there are also people that don't like sweet things, for example my father hates sweets but he loves sweet coffe x D He says that everyone at work laughts at him when he puts like 8 spoons of sugar into it xDD and explains : "I dont like sweets so at least let me have my extra-sweet coffe!!! >w<" (oh i'm not japanease and no one in my family is xD) |

Yeah, I've always sort of wondered about that too.
Sweets are food, and food is for everyone, no matter what gender they are, right?

That's probably one of those things that really doesn't make sense either
Aren't guys known for eating a lot? Most guys I know would eat anything they want to so what's up with japanese people and their opinions? Oh well, I guess it's just a shoujo manga thing

I believe this is a male stereotyping from japan. You know like watching anime is usally done by men (I know it's loved by both genders but according to my observation, males are more open with that one), and playing video games is a man thing (Oh puhleez!!!). They have their basis too. as i have observed, women go to arcades a few time in a month, while men would go to arcades a few times in a week. don't try to argue with me on this one. If you're one of those girls who'd rather drag someone to the arcade, (like me) than go window shopping guess what, there's only a few percent of us!
Perhaps in Japan, males aren't usually seen eating cakes. I myself have yet to see my male (and there's lots of them) friends who LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES cakes and sweets. maybe ice cream, but not cakes. There are time when they do crave for it , but those happens a few days in a month. If there's a cake, they'll eat it, but they won't go and buy one for themselves unless they're craving. maybe it's the same. I think we can't relate to these because we're not Japanese. Maybe it's a culture thing. |

I'm a guy and I love sweets, though I also know how to cook and sew. Chocolate is my ultimate weakness btw I love milk and dark chocolate.
