Utau's love
Ok, so I'm fairly sure this has probably already been brought up, but I got to page 5 in the forum without seeing anything and I really didn't feel like looking through 44 other pages... Sorry!
Well here it goes, Does anyone else think it is really wrong for Utau to like Ikuto like that? I seem to be the only one kind of disturbed by her feelings for her blood brother. I'm only up to chapter 25 so there may be something I'm missing, but really, is there a reason for her incestual (is that even a word?  ) liking for her brother? Because not going to lie, it grosses me out a bit, and if she has lived with her brother forever, wouldn't she have realized that it's not right and not going to happen?

No, that`s not it!(At least for me)I think, that Utau just didn`t have boyfriend and she liked Ikuto and tried to save him...(I think, she just couldn`t notice the difference between love to brother and love to guy as she thought she didn`t need anybody else...)

Well, for starters, yes this topic has already been brought up, but a LOOONNNGG time ago. For people who are regulars here, the fact that Utau loves Ikuto more then just a brother is normal, and what is currently going on in the manga is what has everybodies attention. Since you are just beginning this manga, I don't think you quite understand what I mean when I say it is kind of old news, especially to the coupling groups. Once you read more of the manga you will begin to understand the situations a bit better.
But yea, it is really wierd. But Ikuto has been a huge figure in her life, especially after her father left the family and her mother blew a brain fuse. It probably just is puppy love for her brother, and the more that the manga progresses the more I think she starts to realize that they are siblings and nothing more. Just keep reading. ever since she was a little kid (after she got adopted) she loved ikuto (so she claimed) but i think that all just came from watching to many romance movie or something lol and then she started to believe she loved him but she really doesn't, it was just puppy love... plus, she's tied to easter so she really wouldn't be able to met other boys.
i think that really all that's going on between them.... later on in the manga, though, it gets clearer! |

I finished the chapters that are up here and although it did clear it up a little I was still confused because she is suddenly just a sister... I don't know if that makes any sense, but I don't understand how her love turned to acceptance so fast and without much effort. What was the point of her attraction if she was going to get over it so fast? I'm pretty sure she wasn't adopted but that would make a whole lot more sense.
I guess I'm just confused why peachpit would put that in there  my guess is to maybe make it more interesting but I still don't see an important point to it...But I guess a lot of things in mangas have no real point... take those crazy shoes Amu wears when she character transforms with Dia

She can't. But now that Utau has met another boy that seems to have caught her interest (Kuukai), she is starting to understand and realize her own feelings for Ikuto. She is probably still in the confused stage of trying to figure out how exactly she feels about her brother, but since she does love and care for him (regardless of whether it is a romantic love or not), she wants to see him happy. And Ikuto is happiest when he is with Amu. Even Utau can see that. So, she doesn't put up a fight (which I am grateful for, because I was dreading a cat fight between Utau and Amu or something in the beginning, I'm so glad that never came to light!) Yet, Utau is still protective of Ikuto and asks Amu to look after him as well. It's a slow process, but Utau is certainly on her way to getting over her brother complex and having a crush on a normal boy (AKA Kuukai.) Even though it may seem quick, her transformation from loving Ikuto like a lover to loving him like a brother, just because she backed down does not mean that her inner struggle is over. What it all comes down to in the end is this: Utau cares deeply for Ikuto, and Ikuto cares deeply for Utau. Why? Because they were all each other had for a very, very long time.
