And you can tell it was written by a bunch of women too lol. If you can't pop that shell, then it's just a waste of time. That doped eyed due is going to have to use the crowbar on himself for the rest of his life now.

That... Is just plain disrespectful. I mean... You're completely missing the point of the series. Not every guy is some sex drive beast who only cares about getting lucky. Yeah, so, women wrote it? It takes a female to make a character that is willing to make a big sacrifice to be with someone he cares about? Sure, reproduction is part of life, but it isn't necessary.

And thats what makes Hideki such an amazing character. His most redeeming quality is how selfless and sweet he is.
Most guys probably couldn't make that kind of sacrifice. In fact, most women probably couldn't make that kind of sacrifice. That he was able to give up sex for Chii really speaks to his character and devotion for her. Also, its a little fitting. Chii was turned into a sex symbol in the beginning of Chobits, but her little problem guarantees that her partner will actually lover her for her personality. |

What does the author being a chick have to do with anything? Gender all sorts of doesn't matter. I've known guys that have written things very similiar to this and women who've wrote things so dirty there isn't really any other term for it than bodice ripper.

SPOILER ALERT, IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS DO NOT READ THIS
I know this guy has been jumped on, and one of the other folks said one of my thought (you know other ways). My First question is why is someone with a rather jockular mind set reading manga anyway? Especially manga that is slated in the romance vibe and created by Clamp? But i want to attempt to shed some light on this- i think the reasons the authors made the "no nookie" decision has to do with the element of surprise, all the sexual tension in the books- As well, it's a redeaming factor for males; think about it, a guy who has a collection of pornography and has perverse dreams about all the women in his life wouldn't be the person you assume to have the "love conquers all" mindset. As well, a lot of the answers are in Chi's character in itself..... although she has a adult like (teenage) body and is sweet, she herself is rather childlike in her mentality. As well, Several times through out the books she it implicates that she not only does not understand that many humans find love and sex to be connected, but does not understand sexual behaviour at all- When her shirt is unbuttoned and her breast is exposed, she doesn't know what hideki is freaking out about; when she attempts working at Live Peep she feels no shame nor does she think about her sex appeal, she only knows that doing that will get her money to give to hideki; She doesn't even comprehend why Hideki likes pornography, she just knows he likes it (and is unaware that that might not be the most appropriate gift). As well, although i've not read manga for long, MUCH of it has a lot of metaphor's on human life. To begin with becoming someone else after sex- that sounds like what many (girls in particular) worry about, and We've all heard some one say "sex changes Everything". And on that note, a principal theme to this story is the idea that so many people see sex and love intertwined, which it is not......... we've all fancied someone who we didn't know much about in some way, and we've all cared for someone who we're not going to have intercourse with. |
