Yuu Watase already posted on her blog that the series is on hiatus, first of all, because that time around 2008, her health was low, and because her mother was in the hospital. It's all really too bad!!

But why did she start a new series??? "Arata Kangatari" http://www.mangafox.com/manga/arata_kangatari/ It's serilalized in the weekly shonen magazine, Shonen Sunday The new series is actually 'shonen' and not shojo!!! But if she regained her health, why start a new series and not continue with Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden??? Shouldn't mangaka, finish a series, then start a new series?? I bet most people are dying to read the ending of this series!!

She actually published another series before "Arata Kangatari" and believe it or not, it was all about yaoi!!! It's called "Sakura gari" and has 2 volumes and is continuing, but I doubt it'll continue since Yuu Watase is busy with "Arata Kangatari". I don't really enjoy yaoi, I think it's really wrong.

I really want her to continue Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden!!!! I love her art and story!! Now "Arata Kangatari" has become the spotlight! It's a good series! But I think it's not going to end in a while ... ^^; Viz has already planned to publish the first volume in 2010, so "Arata Kangatari" is already liscensed in English. Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden ... to me, it's quite sad that it's on hiatus. But I really like her attempt on a shonen series!!!

Also neither of these two stories need a long time preparing or hardwork, the stories have already been set. While Watase-sensei wants to give Genbu Kaiden some time and thoughts, so her work wouldn't lose focus of the story, that's all.

well writing stories especially drawing manga is a lot of work first of all. For the new mangas, she probably thought of new ideas and wanted to get them down as a story before she forgets. There is also a possibility that she doesn't know what to make happen next. You'll never know, but thanks for the info. I was wondering why it hasn't updated for a while. I hope she continues it soon

I really hope it doesn't get pushed back once again....
was so addicted to this manga...
and it left on such a HUGE cliffhanger...
