Question: Is it worth it?
First thing's first.
1) Does the anime follow closely to the manga, and is it worth it to watch? 2) What's the difference between the manga and the light novel of Haruhi Suzumiya? Thank you. ^^

1) Anime is a definite watch.
although, there will be no more manga beyond bamboo leaf rhapsody. 2) No difference, it basically covers everything in the first novel and some other story. BUT THERE ARE 9 NOVELS IN TOTAL AND A 10TH ONE ON HIATUS Yea, the anime is currently much farther than the manga.

Anime is good, watch it
The novel seems to have more detail so far, I haven't finished the manga yet...

you should watch the anime.... this is one of the cases that the anime is waaay better than the manga,
but the light novels are more detalied (the manga is incomplete, it finish at the bamboo leaf rhapsody, and the anime basically is about the first light novel....) for me, the best: light novels, then 2nd is the anime...
