WTF is happening! Shino isn't an epitaph user and endrance and sakubo were never unconscious for that matter bordeaux didn't get infected until the second arena tournament after endrance had been beaten. And haseo had his avatar before he fought endrance and I think maybe even before he entered the tournament

The eight epitaph users are:
Haseo: the first phase, Skeith, the terror of death
Atoli: the second phase, Innis, the mirage of deceit
Kuhn: the third phase, Magus, the propagation
Yata: the fourth phase, Fidell, the prophet
Sakubo: the fifth phase: Gorre, the machinator
Endrance: the sixth phase, Macha, the temptress
Pi: the seventh phase, Tarvos, the avenger
Ovan: the eight phase, Corbenik, the rebirth

so why the hell does it say that shino is an epitaph user in chapter 6? could someone please explain to me what is going on.

Shino was first chosen by Innis to be the host, but when she was PKed and her PC data gone, Innis left to search for another host. Atoli somehow created a character that looks like Shino, thus allowing her to become the host for Innis. The reason why Shino was first chosen, I don't know.

This manga is just an adaption from the game series. So, many things were altered in here.

For GU+ we decided to make Shino the epitaph user for "the mirage of deceit" Atoli was a normal PC. This is the biggest difference between the game and the manga......We needed someone in the story to be pulling all the strings from the shadows.That's when all the pieces naturally fell into the place to create The World's mysteries with Ovan as the murder and Shino as the victum and an Epitaph user There was a reason for everything....

Actually, in the .hack G.U. games, Shino was already chosen by Innis as its host. The reason is unknown. But when she was PKed, Innis searched for another, and it happened to be Atoli. As for the manga, the only known host for Innis is Shino.

I don't know if anyone noticed it, but in the game, Shino has yet to awaken Innis, so when she was PKed, the Phase detacted itself from her. So when Atoli awakened Innis, she became the Epitaph user of Innis. Shino awakened from her coma and became a normal player.

w8 if shino is the one carrying innis in the beginning why would ovan pk her then? ovan needed all the epitaph users right?

It was an accident. If you did watch .hack// Roots, Yata tried to open the seal on Ovan's left arm. The AIDA somehow warped Ovan out of the Serpent of Lore, where he was trapped, to the Cathedral. Shino received a short mail from Ovan, and immediately rushed to the Cathedral. When she arrived, Ovan couldn't control the AIDA any longer, and as a result, Shino was PKed. That's why the Phase Innis detacted itself from Shino and found Atoli instead.

well, i just wished it was shino in the game you know... not atoli, (no offense meant)... i mean... i have to cover my ears every time she speaks... >_<

nope haven't watch the anime... just finished the game though
soo got obsessed i looked after every .hack i could get to... heehee

No offense but really, some people should do some homework before asking questions. It'll be spoiling the mood when you watch the show or play the game...
