Both are great. But I much prefer the manga.

The anime follows the manga reasonably faithfully, but it ends at about three pages from the end of chapter 23, and the manga ends at chapter 33. There's a lot of development in between (though a story from chapters 23-28 about another teen who has child-care issues is transplanted into the anime before the final sequence), and it brings resolutions to Yuzuyu's plight and Kippei & Kokoro's relationship.

Serious spoilers below:

Being old, an ex-high school teacher, and having adult kids of my own, I can tell you that the mangaka really knows how young children can behave and feel, and tackles a number of common social problems head-on. This manga is very emotional, and it has hit me right where I live many times. I like both the manga and the anime very much, and I'd definitely take the time to read the manga (and not just for the missing chapters). This manga is definitely in my all-time favorite five, and I've read hundreds.
