I enjoyed it, especially seeing a grown-up Near. Do you notice that at the end, his Tarot card stacks are all in the shape of the letter 'L'?

The idea that apples had invaded the Shinigami realm is also quite amusing.

If I can criticize it, the ending seemed a bit weird. The C-Kira just decides to kill himself, but the reason why is not quite clear to me. It might be because Near-as-L wouldn't acknowledge him as worthy of his attention. Or do you think it was because he suddenly realised the evilness of his actions. Any opinions on this?

For me it was only an extra story, this had nothing to do with the real story, as Near thought, it was no worthy for. This shot gave me the idea that no one can repeat the same personality patterns, no one can be 100% like Kira or like L (or Ryuk).

The only facts that I liked were when Near remembered when and why L chose Mello and him as his successors and when the Shinigami King appeared (its form).

At least they could have given a hint of what happened to Misa. (Not that I am really concerned about it)

It's not a fanfic, it's by the original author and artist. The Oneshot is like an epilogue to the story. It is set some years after the original ended. As some people have said, you don't need to read it to complete the story. I feel that the original manga ended in the best possible way, but I still like the oneshot. Its on the list of chapters as Volume XX or something. Go read it

I quite liked it, it wasn't anything like the originals, but I felt as though it brought the story to a final close....Near is the new L and all that (not that he'll ever compare to L)

Yeh I noticed the cards were in Ls ^^ It reinforced my idea that Near is a die-hard L fangir- *cough* I mean boy.

Misa said a number of times that she didn't want to live if Light was dead, so it's 99% certain that she would have committed suicide after she found out Light was dead.

I loved the Oneshot! At first I wanted to read more, but I didn't read the bit that said 'Oneshot', so that was dissapointing...

The Original is still the best though, and as Light said, nowone could do it but him- which is true. Also, nobody could replace L, as Near said it took both Mello, Matt and himself- Which is also true! Near was my second favourite character, and Matsuda was my 3rd favourite because he amused me, so it was fun to see what they had to say!
