This is not meant as a bashing question,I`m just confused.I`ve read Furuba 3 times now but what I still end up wondering is..why did Tohru fall for Kyo?Don`t get me wrong,I like Kyo,he`s and awesome character,but what was it in Kyo that made Tohru fall for him and not any of the other guys?He was protective of her and smiled alot for her,but so did Yuki.Just what made Kyo different?

Love doesn't have reasons on why it happens. If there is a spark between two people, it will just happen, regardless of other factors.

i really liked yuki too. its hard to say what made her pick kyo. maybe because she felt a need to do things for people and help those he loved and he needed more help emotionally than yuki. he had a harder time being accepted by everyone else. also, we must remember that kyo was the cat and it was tohru's favorite animal of the zodiac. she had a special bond with him because of her love for the cat. so maybe if yuki had been the cat she may have picked him. but then we have to wonder if yuki would have been a different person if he were the cat.

well, at the later part of the manga, Yuki's true feelings was revealed, that he wasn't romantically in love with tohru, he just consider her as a mother,. only momiji admitted his feelings towards tohru. and we could expect that they will not end up together.. tohru and kyo have special bond, they shared a lot of things and tohru fall in love with kyo under a process that the two of them became very2x close as the manga progresses.

for me, it seemed like kyo and tohru fit together as a couple, where yuki and tohru did not. from the beginning, when tohru would help kyo with his challenges, kyo would always make the extra step to try to also understand and help tohru (the earliest example that comes to mind is the umeboshi conversation during the onigiri chapters...culture festival I think? right around Momiji's introduction, do you remember?). yuki, while he also wanted tohru to be able to depend on him, simply wasn't emotionally strong enough to make the effort - to come outside of himself and his own issues enough - to actually allow tohru to depend on him that way. he protected her as best he could, but their relationship was never one of 'equals' - even on tohru's part, while she admired yuki's good qualities like his 'kindness' and gentleness (remember the secret base conversations?), she never really understood him as well as she did kyo, and so there was never that sense of comfortableness with him that would allow romantic feelings to blossom. maybe not comfortableness exactly - more like, there was never that level of intimacy. yuki knew this intimacy was missing (which is why he never progressed to calling tohru by name) - which is why, i think, when he was trying to come to terms with his feelings for her, he forced himself to put so much effort into turning their relationship into a 'romantic' one (remember when he suddenly started acting more princely and "smooth" towards her). partly i think he had that reaction of trying to be her 'lover', because of jealousy/loneliness caused by the (natural) intimacy he observed growing between tohru and kyo (remember, kyo started being able to read and predict tohru very well, better than any one else, in fact, including yuki). yuki was afraid of being abandoned, like a child (he even said as much himself, later). so, while I do agree that takaya-sensei could have spent more page-time developing (and showing!) the relationship between tohru and kyo (especially in the first half of furuba), I did see subtle signs throughout the story of romance blossoming between the two. was that useful? kinda long, sorry! that's just what I saw, too.

I see,well I guess all of you make sense.Must have been mainly the connection they got partly to how Kyo was Tohru`s favourite zodiac animal.

OMG.....that was exactly what my bf told me when i ask him for reasons....


anyways....Tohru had always liked the cat from the start.... the thing that made Kyo attractive was the cat....but that didn't really start Tohru's feelings.... i'm sure it's the way Kyo expressed himself to Tohru and his personality....Yuuki's personality is totally different from Kyo.....

to be honest...if Yuuki and Tohru happen..... that would be boring....
