If you're looking for a manga with an interesting plot, interesting characters, and an amazing storyline, you've found the right manga. For a shoujo manga (not that I have anything against this type of manga), this is great. A complete surprise in shoujo manga.

We start out with a genius perfumist by the name of Kanade, and Kanade makes "limitless perfumes." He has the nose of a dog (not literally, but you get the picture) and is very talented at "smelling."

He has a cousin named Anais, a French girl who speaks Japanese, and she visits Kanade occasionally. Well, this time, when she visits him, he's got a bit of news.

He's looking for this girl, a past client of his, Tsudomi, and she has suddenly gone missing.

Hmmm. Sounds like a mystery to me.

Well, anyways, Tsudomi has gone missing for a while, but he has started smelling her scent named "Rose bud," on this man running with roses.

He ends up tracking the scent, and he comes upon the area where the rose scent is (a rather scary and ancient looking alleyway) and an evil looking man, perhaps a yakuza agent, tells him to shove off.

Kanade runs back out and tells Anais, who is waiting for him, to give up. But she is determined, and runs up there in search of Tsudomi.

Once she gets there, she finds out the Tsudomi's mother is dead, and that, in reality, Tsudomi, and her lover, the evil yakuza agent, killed Tsudomi's mother.

Apparently, somebody besides Kanade and Anais has followed them up this back alleyway, and thankfully, brought the authorities.

Kanade, the genius perfumist or flavorist, and Anais, the determined little French girl, have saved the day.

I have not seen such an interesting plot and storyline in a long time. This gets a "Read it ASAP," rating.

i like this series. it is very fresh and something new. i never thought there would be such a thing as genius perfumist*snicker but in the manga it seems really cool! a must read

Christopher Paolini you have to throw rocks at your characters to get a good story flowing. Well, I throw boulders.
