I think it is because they worked so hard on the plan, that they have to tell someone, and who is better than the one that is doomed any way.
And it is a way for an author to let the reader know what's happening. |

i agree with dagon nad its also maybe a way for the other to open another part of the story up or to make you realize something that will make you go OOOOOOOH. also you may start to see the villain in different ways
