Tokio is your average kid who LOVES to play video games. Oh boy.

He beats them in record time whenever somebody gives one to him or whenever he finds one. So naturally, he'd want to get the newest edition of the World, new and improved from it's two years off the market.

Well, his mother finds out that he got a PSP looking thing and grounds him from his games. Oh noes.

Now, he's out of games to play and must go to school without such a thing to keep him company. How fun.

There, he meets a transfer student, Ayaka-chan, and falls head over heels for her because she is a literal goddess. *cough* Mary-Sue *cough* Anyways, she hands him this mysterious blackened cartridge and finds himself in the World. Everything hurts and he gets the distinct impression that he had landed in the game for REAL.

He runs into Kite and finds out that Kite's in the middle of sizing up an enemy. Problem is that Kite hasn't been logged into for 10 years. Oh great. Tokio is given a sword and it is suggested that Tokio is to have some part in this adventure.

The artwork is far too simplistic for my liking. It almost looks like Western vector comics so it truly isn't the greatest thing I've seen. Plus, you can tell that this series of dotHack is meant for a younger audience.

The story was also filled with cliche plot lines, so it was incredibly boring. That is why I am giving it a "Read it when you're dead bored," rating.

I understand ur point of view. But I'm still into .hack becuz some of it is still a mystery to us americans seeing that some of the stories and other mangas are still in japan or haven't been released here yet. I'm not as hooked to this story as the previous ones becuz it has a poor introduction, but for now i think it's pretty good. I'm okay with it.
C'mon people lets not pick on the guy, we all have our own opinions and are free to share it. He isn't insulting .hack, he's just saying how he feels about this one.

You do realize that Avatars would be idiotic and unnecessary? Admins would always be in the game (Every MMORPG has) and there would of course goddamned Hackers (Whether you like it or not, they're everyF*CKINGwhere). All of this AI problems (Morganna and AIDA) would be unnecessary since you can analyze human feelings and behavior in the real world, I mean, WE'VE BEEN F*CKING DOING SO SINCE THE EGYPTIAN ERA! (Read about Psychology). Of course, an actual version of THE WORLD would pretty fanF*CKINGtastic. I say if we use the THE WORLD R:2 Town Designs and Gameplay, Gate, Guild, and Motorcycle systems and the classes(We HAVE to include Adept Rouge from R:2 though), Character Designs, and Area (Clear the Field first and then enter the Dungeon) system from R:1 we can make a prefect version of THE WORLD. Of course a bigger party system would rock and also Towns being A LOT bigger than in the game.

By the way, I am completely sorry for how I reacted of the beginning of last paragraph (I'm not in a good mood today as you can see). Yet, I won't erase it.

I know that Avatars are unnecessary, hackers are everywhere, Admins are there...

But we just have to be extra careful of the online games we play or we'll end up in a coma... Better yet, become a Hero that saves the Internet and the world... (But the second part will always be a fantasy.)

Even so, there wouldn't be an exact reason for us to fall into a coma.
