Man, this manga is really GREAT. Can't believe theres so little threads on this, so I am making another one to say how good this was and encourage people to start on this. I read this ages ago, but even now it is still rank high on my Top Manga list, and i've read lots i tell u.
The title "20th Century Boys", summary, and avatar doesn't seem very exciting, and i took a long time to pick this up, but that just goes to show never, ever judge a book by its cover. Boy was i glad i gave this a try. This is one of the most suspenseful stories out there, and it'll keep you turning the pages, wanting to know what happens next. Actually, this isn't the usual type of genre i read, since there's sometimes senseless gore involve in these type of stories, which i hate. There's blood alright, but rest assured, it's not overwhelmingly much. The story builds its suspense on the masterful story-telling abilities of the mangaka Urasawa Naoki, and its clever psychological devices will be what sends chills down your spine, instead of horrific bloody gore. It still surprises me how the mangaka manages to keep track of everything while telling the story, as it contains a wide variety of characters and plenty of events over quite long a time period. Because I don't want to spoil the story, I shan't elaborate, just that please give this great story a try. At least read the first 3 volumes, before you decide anything. The most you'll get after reading this will be a wondrous sense that you've taken a peek into a completely different world and feeling you've been with the characters on their adventure experiencing their ups and downs, and the least will probably be that you've not wasted your time reading 20th Century Boys. Oh, a warning: its better that you start this manga with plenty of time to spare, or you'll find yourselves irritated and half-hearted at school/work because you haven't finish reading 20th Century Boys. |

I would recommend this manga as well. It was a little boring at first but I stuck with it and it got so good I became addicted to it.

Yes, I agree with the recommendation. It is indeed a very good series. There is also a live action which is filmed in Chinese. It has already been subtitled into English. It has 2 parts of the story and was in cinema.

yeah, I agree with all of you, this is possibly the best manga I've ever read. But what's with the ending? Is manga fox missing a chapter or something??

hmm...
hmmm.... WHY?.. I thought this manga sucks.. well that's what you get when judging the cover of a book... I asked myself why I read it on the middle of the semester!!!??? When I have the time to read it during summers haha... Now the warnings you gave to us were being realized... I can't stop thinking this manga on class.. and I can't run away from "reality" either...haha.. Now I'm on this endless spiral loop that If I can't finish this manga.. I can't 100% concentrate on my studies and it might affect my grade.. o well just exaggerating hehe.. reading 2 volumes a day.. and the excess time were invested on studying.. the 2 volumes are just too short... well that's the consequence of not heeding all of your early warnings now off to study!!

This is arguably the greatest manga series ever produced.
Urasawa Naoki is a genius.
