no...sadly there's no second season...i really hope they'll make one but i doubt they will cuz it's already been a while since the first season...

I'd be very surprised if they do a second season, and it certainly won't be a follow-on from the first. There's simply nothing left to do. If there were to be one, it would either be a UBW or HF route anime (most likely UBW, because I can't imagine a way to make HF worksafe enough to be made into another season of the FSN anime).

There is a UBW movie coming out in january. though arguably i think they should have done a season of each arc for a total of 3 seasons. how do u fit all of UBW in 90 minutes? it seems impossible. if anything HF should be able to fit in a movie but definately not UBW!!!

I don't see how you could fit HF into a movie. Whilst most of the epic scenes come at the end, there is a lot of build-up which you need to have to understand the story.

And, HF relies a lot on you sympathising with Sakura, Rin and Shirou, which means you need the little scenes in between to make you feel for the characters and their plight. A 90-minute HF movie would just make everyone watching it think "why are they trying to save her?", given how much of ther shadow stuff and the explanation they'd have to cut out. If you don't understand the background, and understand why she's acting like she is, then it's pretty hard to sympathise with her once she gets into her Dark Sakura form.

I don't see the UBW movie working either, mind. But, at least you can cut out a lot of the backstory out there without changing the audience reaction substantially. Although Archer in UBW suffers somewhat from the same issue as Sakura does in HF, his explanation is a lot shorter.

Here's what I think of Sakura/HF

I didn't sympathize with Sakura much even after reading about her terrible backstory, pretty much because Shirou giving up his ideal for her killed it for me. I mean, he had Rin in UBW and didn't give up his ideal. He just modified himself slightly so he could have both. I mean, with HF having the darkest storyline, the all-around happy ending of it (discounting Saber) sucked to me. UBW was my favorite. And because it's my favorite, the Last Bad End, where Sakura

forces her 11 years of torture/rape on Rin

was utterly unforgivable.

Yeah, they can skip out on quite a bit of UBW, and it's the most action-packed of the three routes. Plus you get Garcher and Rin as highly prominent roles. And beyond that, you get Shirou being a total badass, and some tear-jerking backstory for

Ilya

, even though she wasn't a prominent character in that route.

In UBW, he didn't have to. And, I don't think he entirely gave up his ideal in HF either. Shirou never really liked the idea of "kill one to save many". He always wanted to save everyone. In Fate and UBW, he could do that (I can't think of any innocent person that he kills in either). In HF, he couldn't. Killing Sakura in HF takes his ideal to a level which he never has to take it to in Fate or UBW, and to which even Archer never went.

UBW and HF are kind of opposites, in a sense. In UBW, Shirou discards the "save everyone" mentality (to some extent) for a kinder version of the "kill one to save many" philosophy (but, I don't imagine for a second that, if Rin were in danger, that he wouldn't put her first). In HF, he tries to save as many people as he can, but explicity puts the people he cares about first. Bear in mind that, at that point in HF, Sakura hadn't done anything. Killing her was only ever a precaution.

Plus, she never asked him to do it. I don't see why Shirou giving up her ideal for her makes her less sympathetic. It's not her choice, and she's still been through utter hell for eleven years.

Well, I see it the other way around. The happy ending of HF is well-deserved, after all the effort Shirou put in to gain it. And, it's not a perfect happy ending, because Ilya and Saber are gone, and it's taken a lot of effort to get Shirou back to normal. The UBW ending, on the other hand, is (to me) false happiness. It looks great, but Sakura is stuck with Shinji (although he's supposedly redeemed) and most likely Zouken, whilst Shirou disappears to London with RIn, Ilya's dead and Saber is gone (in the true end). The UBW true end comes across as being happy because it pretty much ignores everyone but Shirou and Rin. And, even they won't be too happy if something happens to Sakura (especially if they find out why).

After playing HF, I just can't like the UBW endings, especially the true ending.

And because it's my favorite, the Last Bad End, where Sakura

Yes, it probably was (although, I end up almost feeling that Rin deserved it for her lack of empathy and total stupidity in her response to Sakura's plea for compassion). But, at that point, she was totally insane. Dark Sakura is evil. Normal Sakura is kind and sweet. There's a big difference. In the real story, she doesn't do that, anyway, and I suspect that (if she even remembers considering doing it), she probably feels very guilty about what she nearly did to her sister, especially given how close they seem to have become in the HF true epilogue.

Overall, it probably is. Although, the end of HF is far more awesome, IMO.

Archer, yeah. Rin, on the other hand, is actually about as equally prominent in all three routes. It's just that she's only the

romantic interest

here, and my guess is that, to fit it into 90 minutes, they'll cut a lot of that out anyway. My guess is that it'll be very Archer-centric.

Actually, HF Shirou is more badass, by a long way. The things he does towards the end of HF

My suspicion is that they'll cut that bit entirely, given the length of the movie and the fact that it's only really important if you consider it in conjunction with the other two routes (where

is an important character). Without going through Fate first, it just won't have the impact, and it's not at all necessary to the plot.

For the Fate stay night visual novel there is a patch which allows you to get the extra ending from realta nua. In that extra ending they have a continueation of the fate route and at the really end it says something about how one story has ended but another will begin. So there is a possibility that they might make a second season of fate stay night or at least a revelant sequel to the first visual novel instead of Fate hollow ataraxia.

Well, Realta Nua is exceptionally confusing (and, deliberately so). It's uncertain if it really happened, if he's dreaming, if he's dead. It's solely there to placate Saber fans, to give them a happy ending they can cling to, whilst non Saber fans can just ignore it (say it's a dream, that only happens after Fate). It's an attempt to make everyone happy.

The problem is that making a sequel to the Fate route of the VN implies that it is canon, which wouldn't go down too well with Rin, Archer or Sakura fans. I doubt that they'd do that. Plus, there isn't a lot that they can do, other than show Shirou becoming a hero, which would be great if you like Shirou, but would pretty much ignore everyone else. Saber isn't coming back, realistically. Even Realta Nua doesn't seem to bring her back (she seems to have gone to Avalon, or something like that, and Shirou meets her there).

And there is no chance of them animating HA. To understand that, you need to have played all three routes of the game, because it's based on all three and draws things from all three. Anime fans simply wouldn't understand it. Plus, the way it's structured really wouldn't work for an anime (you have a repeating four-day loop).

I wouldn't want to see a sequel to the anime as it is now, because it would almost certainly mostly ignore all the characters that I like. It would also mean that there was a canon follow-up to the anime, which means that you have to address issues which the anime (and Fate route of the game) ignores (like Sakura's situation, for example, and Shirou's ideals). It would end up upsetting a decent chuck of the fanbase whatever they do, most likely.

What I'd like to see is Heaven's Feel animated, but I know that that won't happen, because the dark elements (that would be considered too horrific for an anime, most likely) are just too fundamental to the story.

Hey there is still a possibility this is just me as a saber fan talking but im hoping for a second season. Ya i agree with you and that they probably wont make a second season but i can hope. Plus they made a second season of darker than black and they pretty much killed of most of the main characters in the first darker than black season so if they can do it with darker than black their is a possibility. I can imagine what a second season would be like and im thinking they probably could make a second season if they really wanted to. But will find out after they make the UBW movie.
