Some people say that The Dance of Death is starting to show some fatigue, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I was nearly moved to tears by this arc's awesomeness. Roberta's done plenty to cement her status as a true, card-carrying badass. Let's name off a few of these things, shall we?

List of Badass Things Roberta's Done:

1.) Tortured a guy by handcuffing him to a barrel and tossing hot coals inside.

2.) Downed a fifth of 80 proof liquor without so much as batting an eye, all while scarfing down bottle after bottle of Ritalin like they were Sweet Tarts. Note, this would kill most people.

3.) Lit up the hotel where she was staying just to get rid of the evidence.

4.) Attached a frickin' Milkor MGL to the bottom of a Barrett Light-Fifty and used it to make an American special forces team mess their collective pants. While firing it one-handed in an exaggerated low crouch that would make Robert Rodriguez swoon.

5.) Tracked said special forces team by sniffing their footsteps in the ground. With her nose. While putting on a slasher smile that would give Alucard pause.

6.) Killed a bunch of FARC Guerrillas with coat hangers.

7.) Ended up subdued in hand-to-hand combat by FARC commander, engaging in a pretend make-out session which ended with her gutshooting him with a hidden gun in her belt buckle. After this, she proceeded to pummel his head into a goddamn beef patty.

8.) Caught and broke one of Shenhua's kukris with her teeth. These are the same blades which have been shown to be sharp and durable enough to penetrate car doors when thrown with sufficient force.

9.) Ripped the chain off of Sawyer's chainsaw with the trigger guards of her 1911s.

10.) Reached and neutralized the SF team's target before they even crossed the border. Used the target area as bait and then hunted them down one by one using a black powder musket loaded with flechettes. All while wearing that maid outfit. In the jungles of Southeast Asia.

Hot damn. I can't wait to see all that stuff animated.

You do realize that by saying "Finish it in the next 10 or 8 chapters" means another 2-3 years? I want this to end right here; right now. The OVA will probably be kick-ass even though it will probably feature this ARC but still it has gone way too long.

That would be quite disturbing if that were the case. However, if you'll notice, the OP said "10 or 8 chapters" from part 25, which would make it 35 parts at the most. That's only a couple chapters away. The arc is winding down, anyway. It doesn't need too many more chapters to reach a conclusion.

Besides, I don't think you really have a concept of what real arc fatigue is. BAA:LO has had a tournament arc that has lasted for 56 chapters out of 92. For the past five years, the series has been about little else. Thank god the ZOTT finals are coming up pretty soon.

Speaking of the OVA, I wonder how long it's going to run? To cover this arc, they'd need to do between 6 to 8 hour-long episodes... unless they compressed it a little. Hmm.

Well, since the ZOTT is going to end in another huge battle between Alita and Trinidad (i expect that much) that arc is not going to be over soon.

btt:
For me this can only end when either the US soldiers all bought the farm or when Roberta does, most likely while Garcia tries to calm her one soldier will hit her mortaly (but still able to talk for a few pages to her master). I expect it to end in about 5 chapters, when this fight is over.

That Roberta kicks ass ... no one can deny that

I hope you do realize that 1-8 meant the end of the VOLUME and not the ARC. The current released JP chapter is 78 and this arc is still on going. I do know what a real arc fatigue is and I do know that one shitty maid took over half if not 3/4 of the manga.

43 chapters took 24 episode of the anime, I wonder how they will manage this arc?

P.S. I don't readd shitty manga like Battle Angel Alita, sorry.

Up to 78 would make an even 35 chapters thus far. That's about 45% of all chapters released up to this point. Still less than half, but not by much.

Hmm. A large portion of this arc has been devoted to multiple action sequences. Those tend to go faster when animated than they do in comic form. Like I said, a bunch of double-length OVAs would cover it, if they went for a format similar to Hellsing Ultimate.

I'd like you to qualify that statement. Personally, I think Gunnm is an underappreciated masterpiece. Yukito Kishiro's artwork is impeccable. I'd be willing to put him up there with such greats as Kentaro Miura and Masamune Shirow.

That's true, but the long periods of releases will lead to disinterest and criticism. I doubt we'd get anything like Hellsing, which is a 50 minute per episode. It's not like Black Lagoon has 40-pages per chapter, but 19 or even fewer (latest released chapte here had 10 pages). It's also a bit underrated imo.

If anything, I would like to read/watch about Revy and what turned her into this kind of monster. Her past is definitely a mystery and should be interesting depending on how the author decides to play things out. This is no happy-go-lucky manga, so it's expected that her past will somehow be tragic.

Honestly, this isn't the right place to talk about another manga but, I think Alita is as lovely as ever, heroine so desperate and peculiar that viewers may be more likely to pity than root for her. The moribund pacing and an uninspired plot leave her in the cold.

Interesting coincidence that you would say that. I was thinking about the kind of material they'd use for the OVA, and I briefly considered what it would be like if they did a filler arc about Revy instead of following the manga. While some filler that I've seen was alright, the vast majority of deviations from the original plot in adaptations tend to fail spectacularly. It's kinda hard to decide though when you're weighing the relative merits of seeing Revy's background story or Roberta's meltdown. Personally speaking, I'd take both.

I suppose that's true. Even though the art is as highly-refined as ever, the plot in Last Order has really started to drag along. I hope Alita returns to her place of origin pretty soon; that should be something cool for a change.

I would want the approval of the author of the manga beforehand though. I do not want an anime-original backstory filler episode for Revy's past.

You can't really enjoy a good filler if you build up expectations beforehand. You'd be disappointed. !
