This thread is for the latest chapters of Ippo.
Let me start it off. Expect spoilers from this thread. f you have read Chapter 846, you just know that a miracle has just happened. I am shocked that Miyata has won! I cannot believe it! I know that screw punch is powerful, but come on, the body of Miyata is on the breaking point! It is totally unexpected! :P I mean, who among you actually believe that Miyata can win? I think that it is not realistic at all. What you think? |

I have to agree. Miyata should NOT have won. I think this is the first time ive been disappointed in the outcome of a match (and about anything else aswell) in this manga. I believe that the fact that Miyata has finally decided to use his own style of boxing is great and that should of happened regardless, but he just should of lost on principle. The only redeeming feature was the fact that he meantioned it was a lucky punch. You can agree or disagree with this but ive gotta call it as i see it.
The only question that remains is how will Ippo react to this victory because we dont see his face atall in the last chapter. I hope he doesnt go all Miyata fanboy on us. Instead i'd love for him to recognise that Miyata isnt all powerful. And instead go away from this and get stronger himself. |

Yeah, I don't see Ippo using this as a chance to see a flaw in Miyata. I think from here, Ippo and Miyata will have another conversation somewhere down the road about seeing each other in the world championship fight, a thought that will get both of them through fights that they should otherwise lose (not unlike this one).
I'm not at all surprised about the outcome of this match, though. The mangaka has a major habit of bitchslapping anyone who gets in the way of a main character's goals and dreams. Sorry Randy Boy, wrong manga. |

Wow, I waited two weeks for a 12 page chapter, and not a very good one, to boot (I was using OneManga to read Hajime no Ippo, but they haven't updated yet so...). I know there is a good span where the chapters were super short like this, but I really hope he doesn't start that again. Next week, I want to see takamaru punch out this comically bad opponent so we can get to another Ippo fight already. Yeesh.

Well, I guess I wasn't the only one utterly disappointed by the outcome. I didn't want Miyata to win and I don't think he should have won. But even though I wanted him to lose I knew that Miyata would win. This manga has a way of doing the opposite of the obvious. All the time before the fight and during the fight, they were all "omg, Miyata has no chance and blah blah blah" ... That was the hint that he was not going to lose. Sadly...

I wish Kumi could have seen him then
. One look at his face and she'd realize she just doesn't stand a chance. Maybe there are some cute doctors at her hospital (but Mashiba would probably chase them off with one look).

From a long, drawn out fight, to a very quick and predictable one... Oh well, at least Takamaru cleaned that scumbags clock.

Miyata deserved to win because he was determined. And Ippo is amazing and all but he too would have lost to miyata. That unexpected miyata was practising, ippo and his coach both admitted they would have fallen for it. Ippo is a miyata fan boy for a reason, because he too realizes miyata is a force to reckon with.

Ugh, I was so annoyed with the last chapter. Is the ref blind or something?!
Is it just me or does Mashiba never gets a match that doesn't involve him/the opponent fouling each other? I hope that Mashiba loses it and brutally annhilates his opponent. I mean what kinda champion is that?
