i read this story a couple of days ago and i just couldnt leave it alone
so
here it is

Obvious thing going on is that the sister had a incestious love towards her brother and her brother probably and most likely had the same kind of thought towards her sister

But what reveals everything is page 13. (The page where she looks up and where in she says that even though he was looking at her, it was not her he was seeing.) The sister and brother have thesame face (if you doubt me just look at the coverpage of the story.)

Therefore, the brother has a secret desire. Not to be with her sister, but to be a woman himself. He adored and loved his sister because she is everything he was not.

When she found out about this, she became scared (i mean who wouldnt be) so she found a man who is the complete opposite. The brother didnt like it so he hid her in the basement of their own home.

Now the twist of the story is that she wasn't dead. She pretended to be dead infront of her brother. Why? this part is not clear to me but maybe because she wanted to see if he were going to grief over her death.

She gave the story to the police and they found out about the 2 of them
how? thats one mystery that i cant solve. and probably the most unimportant mystery of this whole story.

I'd have to disagree with the summary. I think that it was the brother who loved his "sister", and the sister was disturbed by his intense fascination with her. She ran away from him and fell in love with the other man because he was the exact opposite of her brother - and she wasn't afraid of being with him, because he in no way reminded her of her brother.

He also had no desire to be a woman - he was just in love with himself, and because they were so similar, he used his sister in order to - in his mind - make love to himself. The last quote of the story; "You were one corrupt, perfectly white flower yearning for it's own reflection in the calm waters" is her calling him Narcissus, who fell in love with himself and died because of it - making the Narcissus Flower ("Perfectly white flower") bloom where he died.

He adored and loved his sister because they looked similar and shared the same Blood.

I believe that she really was dead - Yuki Kaori has this way of making points by semi-animating the dead. The picture where she looks at him, is him seeing her through his eyes - or seeing his face instead of hers. In the picture where he kisses her, you see that it was his hand holding her head up, kissing her - his - dead lips. With how long she would have been down here with her slashed wrists, there's no way she'd be alive, or they'd be able to revive her. Though, this is the one part I'm unsure of.

As to how the police found them? She sent letters that arrived to her Love and the police one week after she was imprisoned. On that day, she slashed her wrists so that when the authorities arived, they would find her dead in his basement, and bound to his bed with evidence of their incestious relations. It was just chance that he was down there and kissing her by the time they arrived.

i do not think you have the story right at all! ankoku has the right idea... i think the reason why everyone is confused IS because page 13 when she looks up at her brother... she is really dead however the " alive face" that stares back at the brother is not literal but symbolic for the fact that he loved himself.... like he was looking into a mirror... did you notice why there was was many mirrors in the story? That was symbolic for the fact that when he looked at his sister he saw himself... she never cared about about him in a sexual kind of way... that's why when his metaphorically mask broke in frount of her she distanced herself from him... in fact she was so disgusted with him that she found his opposite to be with... she even talks about how no one will expect his guilt in her disapearence because no one can see under his mask... he find her letter written in lipstick on the floor next to her dead body... you can clearly see the struggle marks on her risks from her shackles... but in the end she breaks his mask for everyone to see... to bad it had to cost her life...

he he, i just had to read this one twice. first time it seemed like a pretty poorly written manga (the text was too self-explanatory to make it good poetry, but it was still really good to have been written in just 2 days). second time it was to see how well it actually matched buck-tick's song "die". i still can't see the connection to that song, but i see many to thir song "dress". the mirror, lipstic, dress, you find it all there. now i only wish i could read the manga in japanese, maybe the text is better in the original.

and to those of you who wonder about the deas sister's open eyes: have you ever seen on tv or in the movies how they close a person's eyes when they die? nobody did that for her before the brother came down.

Mabe your just thinking about it to hard
I think her brother just loved himself alot
so he lied to her and told her that he loved her so she would stay with him
when she figured out that he only saw himself in her she got upset
and tried to find someone else to make him upset
he didn't like that so he put her in the basement
she was upset that he lied to her and now she was stuck in the basement
so she killed herself so he couldn't have what he wanted
because she couldn't have what she wanted which was his actual love for her
in the end he was hallionating thinking that she was still alive
because on very last page after the story there was blood on his lips which proves
she is dead

Thank you............even tho it was slightly off the mark...atleast i got to know a lil more of what was hapnin!!! must have taken a lot of guts to put up your own interpretation of that convoluted story up there!!
also there are so many smart people out there!!...so many interpretations...kudos to the mangaka..she really made them think!!

Yeah i just thought that he had weird thoughts toward his own sister! But over all i really thought it was cool how the plot was made!
