I believe when I checked Wikipedia that the mangaka is no longer writing anything for this series. There's a story on fanfiction.net called Beretta that I think could be the sequel (no I did not write it nor do I know the writer personally).

I don't know how many of you know about this, but I thought I'd share anyway (as I don't know what to make of it anymore). I have to say I saw this coming a long time ago, but it still saddens me.

So -- Minekura talks about WA in this entry (27-9) on her blog. She isn't being clear on anything... but basically, WA is on a hiatus (of some sort?). That the last chapter didn't come out, not because she didn't have it ready, but because it couldn't be and that it isn't the fault of the Saiyuki series (as in, Saiyuki wasn't keeping her busy enough to abandon WA). She then goes on talking about how "she" wants WA to be, and how it "should" be (I'm thinking she's either talking about the fans or the editorial people at Chara -- my guess is on the latter). Most probably, the chapter didn't come out because of whatever conflict they have going on.

She's being very vague and apologetic. She also mentions something about BL/YAOI, though I'm not sure what (I'm sure it concerns Chara, or on how she defines WA). I can't help but blame Chara here (or her editor, maybe?), but then again, Chara has the right to complain -- it is, after all, the supporter of All That Is Smut. And as I've said, I've seen this coming ever since I discovered WA and found out it ran in Chara (I thought it was a bad joke at that time, and I still do).

I think this is going to be a long one, you guys )': And please feel free to read her entry and share any details I didn't catch, or if there are any corrections to what I'm saying here.

Because it's been driving me nuts on this thread with people thinking it stopped being scanlated due to being licensed (to that I say thank god because if i had to wait any longer for vol7 as it is,, ;alskdfj RAWR). So here's the clear up.

For those of you who read Japanese and would like to read it for yourselves.

I really am hoping that there can be an agreement reached somewhere... *shakes fist* It's great that we're getting Saiyuki Ibun and Saiyuki Blast, but dang it! I want to know what was happening with Toki all those years ago. If he was abducted when he was 5 and was held in an experimental facility for some 12 years, did he escape? Was he released?

I would like to know. :P And I think that Minekura really would like to explain these things. She's got such a wonderful ability to spread a story out over years and keep us on our toes. She's been giving hints to them over the last several novels... Such as Tokito's freakout with the Cult ["Please stop, Akira-san!"] in Volume 3, Dice 17. So we know his captor was "Akira-san", but not actually who Akira is... Or even if he's still alive.

Those types of things can't be handled quickly, and that's the bad part of having to wait through publisher issues... While it would be one thing to have the "Word of God" come down and have Minekura say what she would have done with the story and explain it all to us... as her fans, most of us want to see her illustrate the point. Well... Here's hoping that maybe we'll get something in the year yet to come.
