Default Astro and Pluto

As you may already know, Pluto is based of an Astro Boy arc called World Strongest Robot. I recommend watching this arc as you can highly relate it to the characters and events within Pluto. However be warned, spoilers may be found in the episodes.

The overall drawing style kept me from watching that anime, and i'm still not sure if i really want to
However, the trailer for the upcoming movie looks interresting.

I read the original Astro Boy arc in the manga. (Dark Horse published "The Greatest Robot on Earth" in Astro Boy vol. 3, found it at my local library! )

I intended to read the series legally, but temptation took over and I read the scanulations through chapter 63... (marathoned it overnight, in fact! Uggh, sometimes, I'm such a manga addict!)

Anywho, Urasawa is a frekkin' genius! He took a wonderful children's fantasy and turned it into a dark, mature science fiction thriller without sacrificing any of the major plot points or themes in the original (but adding quite a few, IIRC)!

The only thing that really confuses me (besides Epsilon's gender, but who needs gender when you're a robot?) is Uran's empathic abilities. She's like Deanna Troi (Star Trek: The next Generation) in Pluto, but she was not like that in the original manga arc. If anyone knows Astro Boy lore, I'd love to learn if that's an original Tezuka thing, or one of Urasawa's changes...

Man, I can't wait 'till the next chapter comes out! Does anyone know how long this story will be?
