Wouldn't it be more convenient for ranma to carry around thermos full of hot water every where he went?

It's a comedy. Things like that are too convenient. But it's shocking how often he gets drenched. When was the last time you were walking in the street and someone suddenly dumped a bucket of water over you?

Honestly, I don't see much of a point... I mean, I think the curse literally attracts cold water to make their lives harder, and he would use it so many times that eventually it would be empty and he would just be female again. They probably thought of it, but just didn't do it since he would change at some point or another.

I've only just started the manga, but from what I've seen of the anime, Ranma doesn't particularly seem to mind being a girl, at least not to the extent that changing back is a major priority. You can see him as a girl at times when hot water should be readily available anyway. No, it's the danger of his secret being discovered that's the real problem.
What baffles me is why Genma dragged girl-type Ranma to the Tendo house without bothering to first change them both back to normal. Plus, at dinner he tosses Ranma into the koi pond for no conceivable reason. I think the old fart just like freaking people out! |

I was amazed at how kettles of boiling water seemed to appear out of nowhere quite often. He didn't really need the thermos :P

i think ranma is set in a made-up sort of era. takahashi rumiko seems to love that sort of thing.
and wouldn't the water just cool down anyway?
