Even though the art is great, I found that the idea of using your own blood to fight is kind of silly, and it doesn't help that the premise of the story is nothing new or original.

I give it 1 star.

i think the sotry is unique as are the characters, i also think thats poor judgment in saying its unoriginal when the leading manga today mainly focus on sword or ninja that have electricty

Agree. And the whole grotesque thing...makes it more fun, you know? There's so much plot twists and keeps me guessing.
I have to say I love it. (or is it because I'm a somewhat sadist?)

Personally, I find this to be very creative and unique. The oppressive system is really unique, a giant prison, and the deadman part makes it entertaining.

As said, this is far better than ninjas that can control electricity, have demons trapped in them, and breath fire in terms of realism, and its really cool how a part of your boby is used as a weapon, and how it is so vital to you at the same time. And you know what's really silly? Ripping off body parts and throwing them as weapons.

THATS silly.

I think that this manga is very creative and refreshing. The idea of fighting with your own blood is something I've never seen before. Take Ganta's attack, he can only shoot so many blood bullets before he reaches a limit so with their attacks there's a certain risk. I love how the prison is set up. You just don't expect there to be a prison like that. I love the manga and hope more chapters are uploaded.

Actually using flower petals to fight is ever more sillier than throwing body parts, in my opinion.

I think it's quite an original idea to use your blood to fight, that way charas do have a limit, Ganta cant just run around throwing blood. It forces the charas to grow not only stronger or more powerful but more smart to. It's way better than just having lotsa power and a half working brain. Besides the general idea it's new, the fight with blood and not the typical sword. And the setting's original too, a prison that's also an amusement park, with prisoners working there...it's clever indeed.

well in first place i rlly liked the manga..... the prison its somehow "confuse": if deadman r so value for research why the prison let them be killed by the undertakers........would had more sense if they just locked them up n use them for entertainment when they r needed........also wat about the prison security????......if deadmen r so value why they dont keep n eye on them 24/7 n if something wierd happen just to proceed with security measures or something.

thats the few thing i rlly quite dont understand.............but still its a cool manga

Isn't it? I had read precisely no manga's whatsoever based on an innocent boy in a privately funded prison full of sadists before this one. Please tell me of any others . .

And the way the opening sequence was done was just spectacular, no other way to say it.
So i think you were probably more put off by the intense violence, because the way the supernatural elements of the story are introduced are never cheap or corny. (the man with the guitar is an exception, that was so dumb and over the top that it somewhow worked).

Actually, i think on hindsight that this manga should be given a mature tag, (adult themes, violence, etc.)
