Default 1 or 2?

I read the manga first and then watched the anime. The manga has more details and some pieces which werent included in the anime i say read it first then compare it to the anime when you watch it! kay

yeah I just finished reading it. I dunno about the anime though, unless it passes the point where the manga is.
This manga is going to kill me. (take so long to finish and I wanna know how it ends, i suspect it'll be great)

Just wondering, does the anime go further than the manga at the moment? And some of this manga was a bit hard to comprehend IMO. It was still interesting tho.

Neither. Read the light novel first, that's the original. You can find it on baka-tsuki.

Ok I just started reading the light novel, literally, but when I take a look at it, it seems so long. I don't know if I can sit at my desk reading a wall of text for to long. I wish they would just release the Manga now.

The Haruhi series is originally a light novel series. The manga more closely follows that and the animejust gets the key moments, but it follows the first book fairly accuretly (the anime.)
Uh, considering from Kirsten-san's quote, you should probably go for the manga first. But there are translated light novels on the web, so go for it, eh?

This may sound wierd but Don't Read The Manga. It has very little input from the original author and story, and you will not benefit from reading. Everything that was good about the original novels has been taken out and replaced by fluff. Go watch the anime or read the novels, as they are breath-taking. The Manga actually got cancelled because there was so little original content, so its no wonder animenewsnetwork gave it a Review of... D. (The anime got an A obviously, so read the signs).
