After all the action with Ace and Whitebeard we almost forgot Blackbeard.
It seems that his plan was from the very start to become Shichibukai so he could do something at Impel Down. But what?
I had thought, he wanted to free someone to make him or her his Nakama, but now I think the plan must be more complicated. What can one do at Impel Down? What's that thing that he's gonna shock the world with? Maybe there is another hint about the great secret weapon Pluton at Impel Down. I think there might be something left by Tom-san (who was sent to Enies Lobby and might have died at Impel Down).

i think it is a prisoner he wants to free, one of those guys that were "erased" from history, one of the monsters in the basement so to say, other then that i have no idea what he wanna do, maybe free all of the prisoners?

That's why I started this thread: I don't have any other idea what he could be doing there apart from freeing someone from level 6. But that would be to simple. There's gotta be more behind it.

His overall plan, of course, is to become Pirate King like Luffy. Everything he does is a step towards that. Though each individual step...I can't say I understand. Did he become a Shichibukai just to get into Impel Down to get a new crewmate? It's not like they just let him into Impel Down even though he was one.

probably there is a very very dangerous person that he want to free...
some badass who would make him to a pirateking...
there were still many prisoners in level 6 that could be dangerous

But it's almost impossible to reach Impel Down if you can't take a marine ship. And furthermore he'll lose his titel as Shichibukai if he doesn't partizipate in the war. This can only mean, his titel has already served it's purpose. He just needed it for this very short period of time and the only thing he did was getting a battleship and going to Impel Down while he had the titel.
