I don't want to start a debate between pro-choice and pro-life. I respect all those who are capable of arguing on this subject with a critical and open mind, on both side.
What's bother me it's that the mangaka's certainly pro-life and and gives me the impression of campaigning for this cause. With all this : Dont kill my baby, Don't kill the baby, You can be wounded...bla bla bla. Under the cover of a funny manga, I had the impression they gave me a lesson. I don't know the law for abortion in Japan, but were I'm from (Canada), when you abort, you don't kill a child, you eliminate a fetus, and the cases where patients were injured during the intervention are extremely (extremely) rare. And what about adoption??? It's a logical and reasonable solution in their case. No, the mankaga never mentionned this possibility. Have your baby or kill him. A little extreme in my opinion. I'm 28 years old. I'm mature (I hope lolll...for my hubby and my child) , I can take this manga at the second level, but I don't recommend this work for teenager, they are very impressionable. I adored this story anyway. I burst out laughing on numerous occasions. Yuki and Shigeru are really interesting personage, a little stupid but with a big heart. I was not sure for the style of drawing at first but I finish by forgot. Gwen. p.s. English's not my mother tongue, hope that I didn't write to much fault. |

I've gotten the impression from other manga and movies, etc. that I've seen/read from Japan about pregnancy that maybe it's not too popular of an option to give a baby up for adoption. I don't know, maybe all of the things I've seen have been extremely pro-life and thus only show that aspect of teenage pregnancy...
