Lord of Hades is the Akira that failed to save his friends and forced to fend for himself.
evidence of this is shown in hade's eyes which look sad( shown here http://www.mangafox.com/manga/eden_n...2/c005/10.html Last panel). and the ghastly shading on the face under the mask to show he has been in some kind of trauma and gone mad (suggested by hysterical laughter) his hair matches etc, the only things i can think of which prove my theory wrong is his black shirt which i believe akira discarded... i think he did? i dunno. Also when he said "but... i've been wrong before" suggests he has seen other akiras running around that have succeeded. or....................... MAIN PLOT SPOILER ALERT BEYOND THIS POINT!!!!!!!!! READ AT UR OWN RISK
Hades is not happy doing this, He is Jealous and Saddened by being forced to see these events happen again.
hades is the "true/first" akira and all of this is just hade's/Akira's delusions of what would happen if he succeeded (Read This http://www.mangafox.com/manga/l_p/ and you'll know what i mean) this is something that also makes my theory less true. You gotta be honest this is the typical Horror "Psychological" type ending/conclusion.

Basically its just Hade's(Akira) living in a loop of his life on the island, BUT if he succeeded

Don't say i didnt warn you about MASSIVE SPOILER, and if you already knew this (of course you did i only started reading this manga on "November 1st 2009") and i have never read lord of the flies EVAR! so i did not base this theory off that book.

just who the hell is Hades >.> and is the delusion in the air that happens in the first chapter when Akira looks for Rion in the plane and when they are about to get together this weird beak like thing comes out and eats the air? is that like some Dimension or space bird's beak?? xD

Woah, loop, I remember that one.. But I'm pretty sure that its nothing like that, because that would pretty much be plagiarism, or something like that.

However, it sure is a nice theory... only very unlikely.

Also mini_tko, I believe thats a very large Pterosaur, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterosaur. or a very large prehistoric bird of some sort, but I dunno why its transparent...

for hades in travel the island alone and know where he's going, its suspicious, but i wouldnt be surprised if that was true as the spoiler said, since in the plane before the crash, it seems something invisible swallowed rion up, then they mysteriously appeared on the island on the ground safely. i wonder if the ending of this story will be psychological or not. or if there is a way out, since the island exists somewhere satellites cannot find, or in an area where nothing is there, maybe a bermuda triangle scenario, where they are trapped in a dimension where dangerous animals of different era's exist, and no humans, but this is only speculation, but what if everything repeats in a loop, and they are forced to relive the events without knowledge or a replay where one person is not affected and knows the outcome.

since theres a psychological tag, this much is possible, or its the psychological state of people in a thriving country forced in a survival of the fittest environment where they need to be strong and survive without losing their minds, with fear of never going home, being eaten, and becoming the prey. i think theres something about hades thats mysterious, since if he's a normal student, then he probably knows a little too much, or is a type that can read the environment and know where to go or not.

but whats most curious is the island itself, since it cant possibly exist, unless its a jurassic park thing, honestly from reading so far, i feel they won't escape the island, or be forced to live and find a method of survival on that island, which is hard since that era is a survival of the fittest, and humans are relatively weak, even with tools there. what is the island, is it earth, is it real or not, or a slip in dimensions.... i wonder these since the island itself is suspicous. hopefully akira's group survives till the last, and hades identity will be exposed. but if its a different dimension in the same space... then returning home for them will be close to impossible unless theres a hidden method of escaping, or

the replay of events in someones head that failed to save his friends and companions.

Now that I think about it...I think the "loop" idea is correct and the guy in the mask is Akira himself, but after all the events happened (meaning he, the crazy masked guy is Future-Akira). Their eyes are somewhat similar. And saying how it was "him" who destroyed everyone's "hope" is quite suspicious since the Akira we know hasn't done anything to destroy the others' hope. (even if he was talking about the plane...it's just too suspicious).

Hm...all these theories seem quite probable, but i rather think it was Arita....though there is not much proof; (no one has yet seen them at the same time, though that could be disproven....it could be insanity on his part)
In the picture the original poster gave us, you could mention that the eyes look a bit different.
At first i thought there was a possibility of DID, and if not with akira, perhaps with some other characters, but it could possibly be a future him as well (though i personally do not think that would be a well written revelation; something about it seems cliche) Or it could be a complete random chracter. There is also a few possiblities of the island, like afor mentioned of jurrasic park, or the possiblity of the plane landing smoothly, but the main character's head somehow being injured (thus either putting him in a comatose state, or causing delusions); with the scenario of a plane crash, anything is possible.
