I just watched the anime again and I realized that the Undertaker hase a scar on his face much like Ciel's parents. I am not sure if this means anything. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed. If so, what do you think it is? He does not seem to be the type to have battle scars.

If you notice, William, Grell, nor Ronald have scars, so I doubt that's why.
Perhaps UT's scars have something to do with why he is a retired Shinigami, maybe something happened in the past that caused him to like, go insane or something, since if you notice, in the past UT looked more cool and calm. But now he's just silly and weird, in the good way XDD. UT has scars on his neck and his face, so perhaps Toboso-san will provide more information in future chapters. It's already been hinted that UT knew Ciel's parents, so maybe UT was involved in their death, like he reaped them or something, who knows?

YEYY!! an undertaker thread!! xD second.. ..hmmm..hmmm.. ..yes, yes..he has a connection to the Phantomhives, but not as a relative.. or if i'm thinking what your thinking, I bet he is not Ciel's parents.. cuz I think Angela was rewriting Ciel's past at that moment..and Ciel's parents said that they became "one" when they died...so I think that the scar (that makes them look like they're sewn together, and made Ciel vomit) symbolizes their "ONE-ness"...

I was thinking that maybe the undertaker suffered the same fate as the Phantomhives. Having two people sewn together as one. That would explain why his personality seems to different from how they portrayed of the legendary death god.

![]() Just kidding... May be he got tired of being serious because of his job. that's why he retired and always wants a first rate laugh. But sometimes you can see his serious side again.

Actually, I have this weird idea that maybe UT is a combination of the anime and manga versions of him. Like, maybe when he was a mortal (most likely, a long time ago), he was one of the "evil noblemen". He WAS in that group picture, after all.
Then UT somehow died and became the legendary Reaper that Willliam talked about in the anime. During sometime in his stint as a Shinigami, he'd probably crossed paths with some of the past Phantomhives, like how Ciel met William and Grell. Well, whatever it is, I'm pretty sure that UT is more than likely going to play a significant role in the series...eventually. Hopefully.

I really wish that UT appears more in the manga. I love his character design and also his character of course. He's so mysterious in my opinion

Wow I felt like the only one who noticed! In the anime when you see his sewn together parents (don't remember what episode number) and the priest was choking Ciel you see the scar on his face and I was like omg it's the undertaker!!! then you find out it's supposed to be his dad or parents or whatever but that made me think the UT might be Ciel's dad but my friend shot the theory down and i agreed with her in the end.
As for the scar it could be a way to show that he's older than the other shinigami, like torn or weathered. Currently I don't feel it has any significance other than a character trait. I more curious as to why all the shinigami have glasses and lawn tools for death scythes Hopefully Toboso will go into more detail about them later.
