I'm sorry if this has already been posted in another thread, and if it has please post a link, but I literally know nothing about her, so I'm asking if anybody has anything really concrete about her... I'm just interested because there's two sets of genes for every kid and I've never really taken the time to learn about her, even so much as her name... Thanks ladies and gents.

let's see, her name is Uzumaki Kushina. red haired. and, that's where Naruto's attitude came from. i think she came from the Land of Waves. i'm really not sure about the place. sorry!

Kushina Uzumaki (うずまきクシナ, Uzumaki Kushina) was the mother of Naruto Uzumaki and the lover of Minato Namikaze.[1] She was a former ninja from the Land of Whirlpool.

Not much is known about her earlier life, only that she originates from, what Jiraiya calls, the former Land of the Whirlpool. She was tomboyish in her youth but became renowned for her beauty in later years. She and Minato Namikaze had a son, Naruto, who during her pregnancy they decided name after the main character of Jiraiya's first book. When Jiraiya said it was a name he came up with while eating a bowl of ramen, Kushina only says that it was a beautiful name. She is assumed to have died sometime after giving birth to Naruto, as she is referred to in the past tense.
Personality

According to Jiraiya, Kushina was talkative and a tomboyish girl. According to Tsunade, much of Naruto's personality (and his style of ninjutsu) was inherited from her. As an adult, she was shown to be very level-headed and cheerful.
Trivia

* According to the third Naruto databook:
o Kushina's hobbies are pulling pranks and chattering.
o Kushina's favorite food is salt ramen, while her least favorites are coffee and anything bitter.
o Kushina's favorite phrase is "Don't give up until the end".

So... I'm taking out of this that 90% of his personality is from her as well as his never-say-die attitude, and well even his obsession with ramen. Kushina would seem to be a very interesting soul.

So now my question is still focused on her, yet now I'm interested to know what he takes from Minato?

I have never really taken time out to learn about his background for the most part. It really has gone untouched by me so I really appreciate everyone's input on Naruto's background...

well his mother has red hair and father has ytellow so yea yellow hair but even jiraiya and tsunade said looks are of his father...but his personality straight punch of his mother.

we can also expect that he matures like his mother in the later years she became beautiful and more mature as what naruto is doing. as for the chakra i thought naruto had 2 chakra types water and wind ? (someone correct me if im wrong please) i believed he got water from his mother as she was from the water country or whirlpool while wind from his father.... his father was trying to add an element to it before he died right?? wasnt it wind?

Hehehe, the thing is neither of us knows very much about Naruto's mom.

Also, she is (in my opinion) a beautiful woman.

Well Naruto has the Rasengan that Jiraiya taught him to use, that's something his father invented. Also we know that Naruto's will to never give up was inherited from his father too and maye, I know everyone says that Naruto is really dense and stuff, but he's been able to grasp jutsus at the 16! that's something his father could do since he's a natural genius.

What I really wonder is what poweres did his mother had?
