Ok we can all recall that Gerard could make copies of himself and be at more than one place at a time correct?
My theory is that Mistgun is one of those copies of Gerard but somehow broke off from the main Gerards control. For one reason or another he became his own person but still has the memories of Gerard at least from b4 he split into more than one person.
This became sorta obvious to me when he first showed his face. He knew why ERZA looked at him the way she did so its obvious he is not some long lost twin. Also when I discovered that Gerard had been locked up and lost his memories. Because Mistgun could not have been locked up at that time and obviously had not lost his memories.
This also supports the theory that Mistgun is Wendys Gerard because Mistgun is obviously not as evil as the main Gerard. Also we should be able to tell within a few weeks if the main Gerard is wendys Gerard because they are bound to come face to face and now that he has his memories back he should notice her if he is the same Gerard shes thinking of.

i actually thought pretty much the same as you. There is no other logical reason apart from that one, and the "twin theory" will really destroy the plot. Somehow Mist gun must be Gerard's good side that escape from him or something

im thinking about the same. at first i had thought it was a twin as well, but then i remembered to old gerard twin thing and decided that it definatly was not. i kinda think that mistgun might have like re-formed as what gerard really was at the same time as he was possesed by zeref. you notice how he dissapeared the last time he showed up? im kinda thinking that he might of re-combined with gerard for the time which is why he remembered erza when he had lost his memories. kinda far-fetched, but it could be!

Woah... I like your theory than the Twin Theory one...I don't really like that Doppelganger Thingy/Twin thingy...

Yea I dont like the whole twin Theory, at the end of chapter 120 when you see his face he says he knows of Gerard "but he is not me". This implies that they are twins which would be really lame or that he was once him.

But the reason why him being a twin is not at all valid is because he said he didnt want ERZA to see that face and if he was a twin he would know nothing about ERZA knowing Gerard because with mistgun barely being in FT its not likly he would have learned the history of one of its more "Keep to herself" members when the people that spent the most time with her didnt know.
Again supporting the theory that he was once one of the split versions of Gerard but became his own person

How many Gérards have we seen?
I think his case is similar to Brain's, separated himself from.. himself. But not only mentally, physically aswell, which could explain the markings on his face. No doubt those marks have something to do with it [but they are all the same I think].
Perhaps after that run in with Zeref or whatever his name is, he developed some sort of multiple personality and tried to get rid of the bad half.
The memory-loss could be a side-effect of the Aetherion.
And yeah, Mystgun could be the Gérard that Wendy knows.
