I tried searching for something that relates to this, but haven't found anything already posted.

So, has anyone noticed that the three sand siblings; Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari all have different hair colors? This leads me to believe that Sunagakure practices in polygamy, as it would be impossible to have three children with three different hair colors in a monogamous relationship.

Yes, we've noticed. Since forever. :P

Kankuro looks like his dad (the fourth Kazekage), Temari looks like Kaura, and Gaara...looks like a werid hybrid of their mom with read hair and no eyebrows. it isn't impossible to have three different hair colors and still be family.

Don't they look alike? Their eyes are both dark, small, and slanted. They both have messy brown hair that is close in color. And Gaara shares some features w/ their dad, too, if you ignore the hair and eye colors.

Now here's Temari compared to their mom, Karurua:

Their hair color is almost the same (that pic was from a flashback, and in flashbacks, the color of everything is a bit distorted and fuzzy looking) and their eyes are only a few shades off. Also, their eyes are a similar shape, pretty much.

I'd say they're probably siblings. And polygamy? Would Kishimoto's editor really let him put that in a boy's magazine? uh, probably not.

I only know that gara and kankuro are siblings, I've never heard temari being related to them.

It's not a big surprise if the Kazekage practices Polygamy, you know right? The commom style of a leader in marriage.

Why would call herself his older sister if she wasn't his older sister.

It's not impossible for a monogamous marriage to have children with three different hair colors. if both parents have a recessive gene, it's possible for them to have children with three different hair colors. though in Gara's case though, brown(black?), blond, and red is an odd combo since blond and red hair are both recessive genes. unless gara's mother was a blond (i don't think she was), it really would be impossible with our world's genetics

dont try and put too much logic into a manga world with other modern day stuff such as guns, computers, advance walking machine etc and most importantly monsters and ninjas that can fire lightning out of their @$$es. you'll only confuse yourselves . just go with the flow people, they are siblings, m'kay.

even though I can't find where I thought that they weren't related. I still think that they are unrelated and were only forced into the status of acting like his siblings to put some control over gaara since he was so unstable to begin with he is the youngest out of the three.
