i watched the anime right after it was dubbed and uploaded 2 years ago.. after i finished watching deathnote, i didn't bother reading the manga anymore but after reading liar game i got hooked in psychological mangas.. here i'm reading it from the start and i'm in chapter 58 now.. well i'm pretty disappointed because i was so looking forward to read the raining scene before L died which happened in the anime.. that event made the death of L looked so emotional which made me cry..

Hear, Hear. I also watched the anime first. And was waiting for the scene of L wiping Light's feet. I was like where is it? Anyway, after you read a ton of mangas and compare it to its anime counterpart you'll get used to the difference. I don't prefer either, I love both versions. But I got a warning for yah, the endings different too. Got to say I liked the anime better in that aspect. But I'm a Kira fan so it might just be me.

Hmm... for me it's the other way around. I've read the manga first, so when I saw this scene it didn't do much to me, and the scene of L wiping Light's feet made me WTF. I don't know, maybe because I'm not Christian that this scene made me rather nonplused, or maybe because I knew L is going to die or because I resent the way they made the anime a battle between L and Light only, anyhow I didn't appreciate this scene very much and prefered the original.

zevhan: thanks for the advice.. you know, i guess if i read the manga before wathcing the anime, reading this would be so much more exciting.. do you know other psychological manga like this, i mean battle of the brains?
Catelyn23: well i'm not really referring to the washing of the feet and stuff because i'm pro L and that scene gives off the feeling of him being inferior to kira(for me).. it's just that, the way L looked at the sky while raining seems so lonely.. it's like he's having a premonition of the coming of his death.. im not yet done reading, i'm currently in chapter 81 and so far it feels like there were some scenes in the anime which did'nt appear in manga so i think i like the anime better but someone said that the ending is quite different from the original so i guess its better to give my opinion after finishing it ne... |

I guess one does have a tendency to prefer the medium they first saw the story in. For me, it was manga, so I enjoy the manga more. Although, I watched the Love Hina anime before I read the manga, and I still prefer the manga.

I watched the anime first but I wasn't really looking forward to the raining scene in the manga. o.0
I just looked forward to L's witty little one-liners.

I haven`t read any that`s really comparable to this but everybody has been suggesting for me to read the Liar Game. You should try that maybe? and you can tell me if its good. Hehehe, read a couple of chapters already but its not as exciting as Death Note that had me hooked on the first chapter. Also, I am a big fan of Death Note: LA BB Murder Case, its a novel though and I guess you have to buy it. I am such a sucker for Death Note.
