i think mashiro in that "dream world" symbolizes the twins having 50/50 chance of survival... mashiro's difficulty of choosing between sex symbolizes the twins fighting for their lives.... mashiro's love for sou stronger than what he feels for kureha symbolizes the stronger will of the baby girl.. and finally male mashiro losing to female mashiro symbolizes death of the baby boy inside the womb....
crushing building in the dream world symbolizes the fire that's happening in the hospital in the real world... sou, kureha and the others slowly disappearance (in which kureha said they'll never make it) symbolizes that their mothers in real world passed out caused by inhaling smoke in the hospital...but i think they made it, they were all born because mariko (mashiro's mother) got some help so 99.99% the others were also rescued... being weak in the dream world symbolizes delicate pregnancy....disappearance without even graduating means miscarriage.... hope it can help a bit

Wow. Great explanation. The ending was good in my opinion and I think it's an excellent point to make about Mashiro being saved. Thier own survival was linked to his and thier education at the school was about thier issues in order to enter a new life.
