I've thought of something similar to this before. I think it would be neat if later on in the manga they fought against an extremely powerful pair, but the fighter was deaf and had to rely on site, feeling, and sense to be able to tell what the attack was. And instead of speaking their spells they would use sign language, making the pair they are fighting against also have to rely on site, feeling, and sense to tell what their attack is. Can you image how fast they would have to move their fingers? I think it would be awesome!

Actually, what gave me the idea was because I am the SELFLESS fighter, and in RL my hearing is very bad, especially in my right ear, so I came up with this idea.

There once on Sacrifice+Fighter Forum (RP Forum) were to characters like that. One was blind, and other one was speech-impaired, if I read correctly in her profile.
But, back to the topic, one that couldn't talk was fighting, and she used spells moving her mouth. There weren't sound, but ...
I'm not sure how it worked, but it was nice idea as well.

--- I believe there was also a pair in a Drama CD in which the fighter thought out spells but never declared them. I'm not sure which one it is though. . .

That is a very interesting thought!
I don;t think the fighter would be useless I am sure the team would have some sort of advantage wheather that be one of their other senses stronger or maybe something more mentaltly based..

I think it would be something like in the Harry Potter series... it's possible to cast non-verbal spells, but it depends on your personal abilities and strength.
