Default Death Note should have been a book

Who agrees that Death Note should have been made as a narrative?

Half of the manga was of people talking, and it definitely has that narrativlish feel about it. When I read it, I feel i'm only reading words the whole time, not looking at the drawings.

What do you people think?

It's a wonderful manga/anime and I wouldn't change that, but it would make a good novel^^
However, I would want illustrations of the characters Especially L.

well, I don't think it would be possible to explain all the odd habits of L by simple words.
you try it...
see, it's impossible to picture him with words.
like putting his thumb on his lip or the way he plays with the fingers of his foot or even the way he holds everything(with 2 fingers!)...if you try to explain them with words, it takes quite a long time & in the end, it won't feel the same.

and it's also hard to describe Ryuk & other shinigami with words...people won't get the same image as the one U have in your mind...
basically, I think that it's better as a manga.

Me and my friend also thought that it would have been very interesting if it were a book. The contents of Death Note appeals to usual manga readers and also those who have never read manga before.... For me Death Note has been the best story ever, even if you compare it to mangas, anime or novels for that matter. Being a manga, I think Death Note have been limited to manga fans and I had to force a friend to read this. And after finishing volume she told me it was amazing, and she would have appreciated it more if it were a novel.

I am not discounting the art of Takeshi Obata, because I know how well-fitted the characters are to the idea of Tsugumi Ohba. Anyway, maybe they should release a textual counter-part of this? I'm sure to buy it. hehe.

You should read the LA BB murder case, it doesn't have Kira on it but the deductive abilities of L's adversary will leave your jaw wide open... I mean it.

While the art is amazing, I would like a book version. If it actually looked like a real Death Note, I'd be pretty wow'd.

I think it would have been a great book, and it would be a lot easyer to carry around and stuff. But the alternating points of veiw would make everything a little difficult to understand. I was acctually thinking the exact same thing, it's already benn made into everything imagionable. Why not a book? I would deffinitely read it.

PS: did you know they're gonna make it into an american movie? From what i've herd, its supposed to come out 2011, (IMDB.com)
