I know most of us(yes, that includes me) are Ren Tsugura fans. But I got to say that I salute the Nakamura Yoshiki for Shou's character evolution. I mean, if you think about it he is an insensible jerk for asking his childhood friend to be his "maid" and right now he at the latest chapter he's still a bit of a creep for the ownership stuff he thinks about Kyouko. But I believe he's character is growing. Even his feelings is maturing. When they were young Kyouo was plain and ambition-less so I believe that at that time she may not be as attractive a she is now that she is extremely driven and goal oriented. And even though Shou's despicable at one time when he said that she was the only one that he can accept defeat from and inside he was thinking that he owed her so much. I believed that at the time when he matures enough he will apologize whole heartedly for his mistake and admit his feelings. And at that time I will be routing for him.

Well, I love REN so I'll be routing for him too. What I'm just saying is that at the time she has to choose either way its good. Post anything if you have anything to say about Shou's growth as a character.

You probably didn't mean it to sound like that but "at the time she has to choose"?? o_O Kyoko won't have to "choose". She won't be presented with both Ren and Shoutarou's confessions and then decide the "one for her" or something. She'll fall in love(she already is imo) and want to be with that person, the end. You can't decide your feelings.

any Sho fans understand his development thoroughly exception of his good looks and look passed his jerky personality. i mean when we first saw Sho...he was a kid and now he's still a kid who entered a competitive world that he most likely have to throw away his childish sides and be serious in order to keep up in this kind of business. now that he accomplished his dreams to become a well known rockstar....he just happened to realize that it's harsher than he thought...so all this time, without trying to explain it verbally..... he's been in deep shit that suddenly made him a little different from before. it takes experience for people to change. whether they grew up as an butthole or been a good guy his whole life.....so i just don't understand how readers expect to see a hero with a good background all the time....

Your right sho's gone from a spoiled brat to a sort of mature guy I mean you can't really blame him last time I checked he was 16 and I think he's 17 now. ren's what 22?? He's older and more mature..... give sho some time and he'll probably be more charming than ren.

More charming than Ren? I just don't see that happening. I can't deny Sho has somewhat matured, but it's highly unlikely that someone as selfish and conceited and possessive him can become nicer than someone like Ren. Ah well, that's my opinion, though.

Oh, and a little correction, Ren is 20 or 21, not 22.

Ren's 21, if you've read the latest chapter... on Feb 10 he had his birthday. Anyway, I was kinda surprised at the violent reaction of the other Ren fan above. Well, anyway I think it would be good if Noshiki-san will make the story go in the direction that Kyouko will have to choose. I know, I LOVE REN (straight up!), but right now he's just the adorable character who stowed away from home when he was 18, with a bad past (smoking and drinking, gang wars etc.) who reformed and is now in love with Kyouko. And the possibility that Ren and Kyouko will end up together is about 99.9% at the moment. But a really open minded reader should also see that Shou grew up with Kyouko, they were not in love and he did horrible things to her but SHE was the one in love and maybe just maybe she can forgive him in the end and start a true relationship (whoa! long shot there).
As one of the replies to the thread said, Shou is 14 when he asked Kyouko to be with him as he chase his dreams and most guys are idiots at that age. And if you want a point to point battle with Ren entered relationships with women he didn't love (and slept with them too). Shou's 16 now and he is starting to mature and sees Kyouko who has ambition and talent and he sees something he admires. Kyouko is growing from that girl who had no ambition and with only Shou in mind and Shou is growing to be less of the egocentric bastard that he was. Mind you, Kyouko did say that he asked her kindly to come with him to Tokyo...

Anyway, I hope there aren't any bashing from Ren fans here. I mean lets be civilized... and I love Ren Tsuruga too!!! What I'm just saying is Shou has grown as a man... I kinda like him too. hehe preludes of a two timer... haha

It´s not a competition where you can win a damn trophy in the end, it´s about emotions. Sure Sho has changed but he has still a loong way to go, but to be honest I simply can´t approve how he´s (still) treading Kyoko. That´s the type of man I despise in real life. The end.

I dunno about this. Have you never been pursued by two persons before? Maybe I'm older than you but I have a lot of experiences like this. I know a true romantic would say that there is only one person who I fall in love with. But usually you do choose, you single out that person see how many good qualities there are in that person. I believe in the end Kyouko will be given a choice. It is not that surprising if Shou reforms and asks forgiveness, if and that's a big IF Kyouko forgives him she will see the good qualities Shou has. She was in love with him since childhood and I don't believe that she was shallow enough to just fall for his looks, right? I'm not being forceful with my opinion here. But you see life is a choice. If you've never chosen between two good people, maybe you're lucky but still inexperienced.

Anyway we've been getting lost here. This is not a thread about choosing and endings here. You have an opinion about this and I have as well. This is a discussion about Shou's development as a character. I wonder why there are so few Shou fans here. Anyway, I was planning to post the scans of chapters where Shou actually surprised me. But I can't right now so I'll just narrate it. Hehe. One of my favorite Shou moment was when he promised to be never be defeated by anybody because he wants that person to be Kyouko alone. As Ren pointed out it was a clear confession. And even Shou was reflecting that Kyouko did not owe him anything because it was clear that it was he who was indebt. I loved it. More mature Shou here he comes. =)
