What Martial Arts Do You Take? How good Were you? 3 Dan Black Belt Karate, etc., a guess of how good?(decent? pathetic? etc.?) How did you fight? Did you have any traits that helped? Any draw backs? How did you exactly fight? Any strategies?
For me I learned quite a few and I can say I wasn't the best at some. Overall I think I am pretty weak. __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Karate - shodan (1st Dan Black) Savate - Decently Good? (Not Sure?) Kendo - Yondan (4th Dan Black), I was the Taisho for when I was on a kendo team, so pretty good maybe? Ninpo(Ninjutsu) - Decent? Tai Chi - Near Master(Or so I am told by my teacher) Archery - Novice? Pathetic? I think? Vales Tudo (Anything Goes) - Pretty Good, Maybe? __________________________________________________ ____________________________ some things I could do that helped a bit was that I am under 90 pounds, and I can move pretty easily, and I am I am decently fast, a draw back from being so light is I could be thrown quite easily or pushed back if hit. I can also dislocate certain joints and make myself somewhat more flexible than I already am, but it hurts, a lot, its so excruciatingly painful. I am also blind in my left eye, literally, I can't see anything with it. My strength and normal power is practically near zero, the way I make my attacks hurt is by using speed, I use the speed of my attack to gather force and strength in order to make my attacks somewhat effective. I would have to say my best trait is my speed. My stamina is not the best, so I would try to finish the battle as soon as I can. PS - Has anyone successfully developed an original fighting style? Or attempted/ thought about it? Perhaps even currently working on it? Last edited by Spanta; 11-06-2009 at 06:03 AM. |

XDDD ah so you want to know about the readers martial arts prowess eh?
XDD Ok here are some of my stats. Muay Thai: fairly good, I'm a striker by nature so that always works for me. Tai chi: Mostly average but I don't practice it too much. Grappling: I know throws, chokes, locks and pins but not from learning them in a dojo per se. Streetfights: been in some, and I'm still in one piece, that's enough for me. I could probably take down 2-3 guys but I've never been in a situation where I had to do that. my way is simple and direct with a high degree of dirty blows or locks so I tend to dismantle people fast.

People don't call these martial arts, but here goes
Boxing: Very good? I have very long limbs and overall a tall stature, my body is extremely though so I can take some serious punish. A striker, mostly straights and jabs, I don't use hooks much(bad reaction in the shoulder) but like to use uppercuts. Kick-Boxing: Good(Or at least I was good until an accident that has permanently made my left leg useless, only right now)? Again, long limbs and stature made it easy for me. I haven't learned more, It has taken my entire lifetime until now(16 years) to learn these 2, I'm not that talented to learn anymore.

Well here's a list of mines
Muay Thai - I've been training everyday until I lost my job haha but I'm going back within a week of writing this but I got about 3 years into it. My main strategy is to pressure opponents with bursts of attacks and trips from angles. I prefer to move forward and keep them in corners or against the ropes because that's where it's easier for me to predict movements and try to catch them as they make there move. I'm also a huge fan of the clinch and prefer to throw knees and take down my opponents whenever possible. Jeet Kune Do - I liked using a lot of grappling and trapping and my speed helped give me an advantage though at first I was pretty easy to time I had a couple guys knock me around because of that though I eventually did start to fix it it's always been a weaknes for me. I love throwing opponents too and would prefer to be intop of an opponent to pound away. I also really stressed using feints effectively to create openings and try to keep my opponents outta rhythm. Inside of JKD I also worked with Judo and Jui-Jitsu. Boxing - I was a speedy outside fighter. Try to confuse opponents with footwork and wits at the time I was still pretty young and my strength was undeveloped so I had to rely more on accuracy. Outside of the explinations of course my stategy would change somewhat depending on the opponent if they have a weakness for counters them obviously I'll switch my game plan to that. If they can't defend throws wells then I become more geared toward throws I always believe in adapting to whatever situation you're put in. And as far as rankings go meh there are always people better than me at somewhere that's why I keep training and fighting. |

ive only taken one martial arts and ive taken:
Teakwondo(it was mixed in with shoot boxing)=ive been doing it these past two years and at first i was just average when i was white belt though when i got to green belt and they let us spar with the green belts and up i was able to hold my own against black belts my age and older than me, though i had power in my kicks i really shined in my punches were i was a speedy outside fighter were i could also use the range for my kicks. if i were to get inside i would cut back on the kicks using basic joint attacks(knees, elbows) and try to get into grappling range. my strategies changed depending on who i was fighting most of the people in the TKD center i knew personaly or i was good friends with them and i was acustomed to thier style though when it came to tournaments i had to change it up im a short guy 5'4 and all 124 pounds so im fairly light=speed and after working out i got a bit stronger (though i gained weight from working out and went from 98 to 124 so it gave me more of a balance between speed and power) i usually spend the first few seconds of the match sizing up the opponent throwing a couple of jabs trying to get their style. but one strategy that seemed to work best for me was start the match off with some kicks, its a risky move because you don't know how the other person fights but it gave me the sudden surprise or kept me at a safe distance until i could figure out how the other person fights. after some kicks i close the distance a bit until i can start working the punches circling around him/her close in if the punches are effective and put the pressure on the opponent with grappling moves if the punches however doesn't work then i cut back on the aggression and stay back using kicks the advantages were i was fast, out pressure on the opponent, and i always had a back up plan and was able to change my style with little to no effort the disadvantages were that if punching, grappling, and submission failed i would have to use kicks and thought i was above average when it came to my kicking technique, i had flaws and someone who prioritizes kicking over punching, say a tall person with long legs, then it would get difficult. i found the trick was to get close at the beginning of the match and don't let them get any distance but even that is hard because most of the time long legs= long arms= long range punches (thank god i have long arms XD) |

taekwondo- i think every 1 does this first, i tried it hated katas they were kind pointless 2 me at times.
american kempo-i think i was bad here the only thing i didnt have was stamina, which u need in martial arts, besides that i was average....until the place moved far away and i couldnt go. muay thai- slightly above average- i got stamina from doing this been doing it 4 a year, i can say the best thing i got is that i dont bruise easily and i can take a beating. my strategy is jab 4 the first round or first minute then use wat i can |
