Well, having read this entire series, I'm left with one main question: that's it? 68 chapters and that's all it amounts to? Practically the only bit of actual character development in the whole story comes in the last chapter when Yukinari and Miharu finally admit their feelings to each other (and maybe when Koyomi decides to take the initiative and free Yukinari and Kirie). Beyond that, what actually changes for anyone? All of the characters remain more or less locked into the same broad outlines they'd had since their very first appearances. That might be excusable if the stories were actually interesting and entertaining...but for the most part, they're incredibly repetitive, cliche, and generally not even funny.

Oooh, let's see how Fukuyama's going to get the girls' clothes off this chapter! Instead of having the characters interact in remotely normal human ways, let's just have the molester pop up once again so Koyomi can scream and Kirie can punch him. And every once in a while, let's have Risa do something stupid too. While we're at it, we can throw in some bits of Miharu misunderstanding everything around her while stuffing her face, Tomoka showing off her arrogance and childishness, Koyomi freaking out about men, Yukinari being generally useless except when getting a rash or having his supposed friend Kirie yell at him...and of course Ebi going, "Nya!" And we certainly can't forget the boobies! Boobies boobies boobies. Wash, rinse, repeat. Sigh.

I wanted so much to really enjoy this one. The premise has a lot of potential, as do the characters. Miharu remains quite charming, but I would say you're probably better off just sticking to the anime if you want to get to know her and the rest of that bunch of lunatics. I haven't actually watched it yet, but I have to imagine it's more fun than the manga. I wish I could recommend this series, but I would feel guilty recommending that anyone spend their precious time with something so very bland. What a bummer.

I must say that I agree with you, and the anime is very good but it is kinda the same in some ways. Still, I did find that I enjoyed this manga despite how cliche it is.
