For a good manga, I recommend Liar Game, described by some as the Manga which suceeds Death Note. It's jam packed with clever twists and maneuvers, and makes for an excellent read. I also recommend Gamble Fish, a less developed manga but one with equally mind-boggling events.

nano-wire: one bad ass weapon. it was used in black cat and trigun. it is basically wire so thin it can cut through almost anything, like rock or steel, like a hot knife through runny butter. the real-world aspect of its design is improbable. it is impossible to make a wire that thin yet strong, although there were failed attempts using carbon chains.

They actually make painful weapons in real life, I've tried, although they don't have nearly as much severing power as in manga.
And yeah, I remembered Janus from Black Cat too.
