I love boxing but uhmm i dunno if this is me or just me being a yaoi fan girl but.... Ippo's fan body attitude towards Miyata is just well so ... gay... i honestly dunno what the author was thinking, i dunno if it's hints like
1. the teasing bit of Takamura with Miyata as Ippo's "beloved"
2.Itagaki saying "It feels like i've heard something for a lover" or something like that in a chapter
3. the picture where Ippo's head is filled with small miyata's and kumi is being thrown off.

I love yaoi but i dunno in this sense it's just creepy, i hope ippo stops doing that and it might make others misunderstand since this is obviously not a yaoi manga...
but on the other hand it's okay to idolize a person like that when you're a kid (like your dad being your hero) but he's in his 20'S no right!? anyway i love the action and i'm sooo hoping for the additional relase of the series, Who hooo! go VORG!

well Miyata inspired ippo to be good at boxing and he even became his first rival. Ippo looks at him more like a celebrity and can't wait to fight him. You should know how crazy some fans get over celebrities. it's that same sorta of "wow it's him/her so cool" kinda thing.

If you think thats gay i mean at least they gave up on fighting each other. Naruto still is hung up over Sasuke. I have never seen one man go to the lengths he does for another man. In other mangas when people aspire to fight someone, they don't show him thinking about it 24/7. it feels like Almost every other chapter has Naruto wanting him and Sasuke to be together. I digress.

I though it was helerious when he was jogging in his new suit thing that Kumi bought him for his birthday/champ and he saw miyata and he was like ohh its fate~ i was just thinking about you (as he does every time he sees tht tree lmao) and miyata was like BACK AWAY...stop being gross lmaoo!! I appreciate that Morikawa Jyoji has a sense of humour (a really good one if anything lmao) as you dont really get that in some sports mangas.

you need to look at it this way. ever since they first fought they formed a bond its like ippo treats him as an older brother of sorts and he is desperately trying to surpass him and for him its all that matter so in that way every time he is in awe of miyata he actually is self reflecting in a way cause to him miyata is the stick he measures himself upto.

on a personal note i don't find that gay in the least bit, it's rare to find such admiration and bonds like the ones in this manga and in RL in general so its all good .. although i will agree he should give more time to kumi :P
