Anyone else pissed off at Emiya?
seriously, he tries to fight rider alone
never even thinks about calling saber
believes in protecting everybody
i mean who simple is it? call saber, have her deal with rider
reinforce a knife and stab shinji
infact i respect shinji more than him
atleast hes able to realise its not fun n games
or omg ill save everybody without anyone dieing
sure i mean taking souls seems evil, but in reality i think all the other masters are also doing it
5/7 in otherwords so its the normal
and im sure most people placed in life or death would choose to kill many to live
personally im not a hypocrite because i know i would do it too (not as blatantly obvious, but i still would)
but why do all mangas always have to have a naive protagonist?
bleach, naruto, even love hina has a naive main charachter
right now, i dislike shinji but i absolutely hate emiya
but if anyone reads shin angyo onshi, berserk, gantz or ubel blatt (all fantasy except gantz) youll know why im so angry
and especially shin angyo onshi, just read it

I think the word you're looking for is "Naivete". He does lose it in one of the paths, he comes back as the villain, although from what I've seen of the RAWs the manga nerfs his betrayal to make it more fluffy.

But yeah, in the original novel, EMIYA ranks right up there on the scale of "We have to fight THAT guy? Stuff this, I quit.".

He loses his naivete in both the UBW route, which this manga follows, and the Heavens Feel Route. In neither can it be even remotely claimed that he becomes a villain. He is the main character after all. And really, liking Shinji more? The guy's a rapist, murderer, and coward.

Emiya manages to beat Gilgamesh by himself, and also takes down dark berserker, and (in a bad end) dark saber. (Though for those two he did have the help of Archer's arm)

If you think about that, he probably could have taken Rider too, if he had the knowledge he did then.

he beat gigamesh and dark berserker by sheer luck,

berzerka had that illya distraction that couldve gotten him killed if it wasnt for that split second delay
gigamesh, he had him chained down at the end and then guess who helped him? and plus there's no way he coulve beaten the King of Heroes if he took out EA and slashed the world apart
and rider? hahaha, if archer couldnt even take him...i doubt shiro could do any better

On the contrary, it's what I like most about Shirou- he'll go to any lengths to stay true to his ideals. Certainly, it can be suicidal at times, but he feels that given what he's been through it's the only way he can 'atone' for surviving. However, slowly, but surely he learns to accept his allies and not try to bear every burden on his own.

hey id go to that length for my ideals
but my ideals are different
stop at nothing for vengeance
return the pain inflicted upon you in tenfold
sacrifice anything and everything for your own life and safety and life/lifestyle, whether it is one person or a million
never ever turn gay or pedo

Shirou's then is somewhat the exact opposite- he tries to bear all responsibility even if his means may (emphasis here since you won't know until you try- that's probably how he might justify himself if he had to) not be up to the task (but that's usually precisely how shounen manga protagonists grow in strength). I doubt a thought like vengeance enters his mind at all seeing as nothing seems to matter to the guy personally, so it really is justice without vengeance.

thats what makes them so unrealistic
tell me, if your family (or father figure) was murdered infront of your eyes
would you want vengeance?
